Fernando Martinez is a classical guitarist from Phoenix, Arizona. He started out on the guitar at 14 years old and found his love for music in high school where he had the chance to tour and compete with the Maryvale Guitar Ensemble throughout the US and parts of Europe. Some highlights being: Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington D.C., Venice, and Rome. Where he was able to perform in the Pantheon! Having been exposed to and performing music from different cultures and time periods, Fernando was drawn in towards the classical guitar through its clashing of worlds.
Starting out teaching traveling lessons, Fernando discovered the joy in sharing his love for the guitar and having the chance to see his students grow, instructing one-on-one. Since his early beginnings teaching, Fernando gained experience working for various schools giving lessons on the classical, acoustic, and electric guitar. Then, later venturing out in learning and teaching lessons on the piano and of other members from the fretted string family such as the electric bass, ukulele, and the banjo!
Fernando received his Associates in Arts, Fine Arts, (AAFA) at Glendale Community College under Prof. Chuck Hulihan. Where he received instruction performing in masterclasses for Laura Snowden, Martha Masters, Raphael Feuillatre, and ASU’s Jiji Kim. He is currently an undergraduate student at The University of Arizona's College of Fine Arts, Fred Fox School of Music, Bolton Guitar Studies, based in Tucson, Arizona. Majoring in Music Education and Music Performance while studying under Prof. Tom Patterson, receiving instruction by residential artists David Russel, Sergio and Odair Assad!
